Client Success Story: Langports’ Switch to Intrinsiq

When Langports made the decision to replace their legacy student management system, they turned to Intrinsiq (IQ Schools). We spoke with Anna Bell, CEO, about their migration experience, staff training, and the benefits they’ve seen since going live.

What was your experience like with data migration?

Anna admitted that data migration was one of the most daunting aspects of the switch:

“It was a challenge because of the old system we were using — we had around 18 years of data stored there. But Mark was able to assist us, and we felt very supported throughout the process.”

The Langports team worked closely with Intrinsiq to map the data and verify everything over a weekend. Despite the volume of information, the transfer went smoothly and without disruption.

How did your staff find learning the new system?

Change is never easy, especially during peak season, but the transition was smoother than expected:

“Of course staff were nervous, but Intrinsiq is fairly easy to learn once you get the hang of it. Having support directly available through Teams chats and written guides was really important. It meant if we ran into a problem, help was right there.”

Anna added that ongoing post-launch support also played a big role:

“Staff adjusted much more quickly than I thought they would. Having Intrinsiq on the other end of a call or ticket made all the difference.”

Was switching worth it in the end?

Anna didn’t hesitate:

“Absolutely. We wanted something more customisable, built on modern technology, and always evolving. Our staff have found new efficiencies, and instead of being bogged down in admin, they now have more time to support students face to face.”

What surprised you most after switching?

The biggest surprise was just how many efficiencies were delivered so quickly:

“I was expecting it to be more painful. But automating certificates, having a student portal with ID cards instead of printing them, all these things have saved staff so much time. The staff were surprised too — they could see that what we promised was really about making their work easier.”

What made you finally decide to switch?

Anna had considered a change for some time:

“I’d identified the need to switch before COVID, and during COVID would have been the perfect time in hindsight. But eventually our old system just wasn’t working for us. We looked at four or five different providers, but Intrinsiq stood out. At some point, you just have to stop working around a system that doesn’t serve you and move to one that does.”

How was the transition process for your team?

Switching systems required planning and staff engagement:

“We communicated what was coming, explained the pain points we wanted to fix, and involved departments in the design process. Mark spent time with us looking at how each department functions, which helped shape the system to our needs.”

Teachers, naturally focused on classes, had less involvement in the build but were quickly brought on board once the system went live.

“The key was buy-in. If staff understand why the change is happening and see the benefits, the transition is much smoother.”

Do you feel the investment has paid off?

Two years on, Anna was clear:

“Yes, absolutely. The initial investment can feel daunting, but in the long term it pays off. We’ve saved time, improved efficiencies, and streamlined processes. For us, it has definitely been worth it.”

The difference Intrinsiq made

Throughout our conversation, Anna highlighted the strength of Intrinsiq’s support and the value of working with a system designed to grow with the school.

In summary: For Langports, switching to Intrinsiq has been a smooth, supportive, and transformative journey — one that has delivered efficiencies, improved staff experience, and freed up time to focus on what matters most: the students.
